After a request from MBTA (Massachusetts Bay Area Transportation Authority) to help in the improvement of the primary suspension springs on their Breda light rail vehicle, Vulcanite commenced extensive evaluation, design, development and rigorous in service testing & validation.

 

This major undertaking by both MBTA & Vulcanite has helped in securing the 'sole source' status to supply exclusively the new designed suspension bushing. This project has endorsed Vulcanite as a valuable supply partner to MBTA.
